Morrissey - Kick the Bride Down the Aisle | Reaction! (Polarizing?)
From everything I've seen, this is one of the most polarizing Morrissey songs I've ever done. Its straightforward and serious lyrics leave you wondering why he's so mad. Is he talking about this specific bride or all brides? Is he intentionally trying to rile people up? Either way, I liked the dramatic shifts and the dreamy section. I love women. 🤓

Tom Waits - (Looking for) The Heartbeat of Saturday Night | Reaction!
Переглядів 1324 години тому
The only time I've ever reacted to Tom Waits came in 2021. He has such a big discography and such a loyal fanbase that reacting to one of his songs feels like a herculean task. Anyway, this is a pretty straightforward ode to Saturday night. With just a few instruments behind him, Tom's gravelly voice becomes so relatable. Thanks for watching! linktr.ee/insignificantnick
Kirsty MacColl - They Don't Know | Reaction!
Переглядів 3349 годин тому
Kirsty MacColl's story really got me when I first listened to her, so I decided to come back to her. This is a pretty straightforward and defiant love song. She sings it with a lot of passion and, well, love! Idk if it makes sense, but once again, she gave me a bit of a country vibe. Also, I loved the Beach Boys influenced harmonies. Morrissey - I Am Two People | Reaction!

Apologies for the neck cracking at the start of this video. Anyway, this was a bit of a creepy and cryptic ride. The lyrics almost remind me of a horror story. Moz seems very protective of his other part, his other face. The piano was lovely, and I liked the little breaks/hiccups in Moz's voice. Thanks for watching! linktr.ee/insignificantnick
The Replacements - Bastards of Young | Reaction!

It's always a treat to come back to the mighty Replacements. This is a defiant anthem for the youth. The band seems to always achieve at being relatable. Paul Westerberg sounds powerful, aggressive, and fed up! Thanks for watching! linktr.ee/insignificantnick
Jim Croce - I Got a Name | Reaction!
Переглядів 148День тому
Jim Croce is one of my favourite artists to react to, so I was thrilled to do this one! Even though he didn't write this song, it fits his warm voice and personality so well. It's an uplifting, defiant tune about identity and being proud of who you are. It's no surprise that it's one of my favourite songs I've reacted to so far this year. Thanks for watching! linktr.ee/insignificantnick
XTC - The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead | Reaction!
Переглядів 315День тому
XTC is one of the greatest bands I've found through the channel. I never know which song to pick for a reaction because I just want to react to them all! Anyway, I didn't expect this track to be about JFK. You can think about any man who comes to town and aids the poor and homeless, but through the music video, JFK seems to be the one. Partridge sings with such conviction and blows the harmonic...
Morrissey - Never Again Will I Be a Twin | Reaction! (Grungy)
Переглядів 27814 днів тому
Here's another example where the grabbing title got me, and I had to have a listen. I didn't expect Mando Lopez's bass to sound so dark and grungy. It gave me big Alice in Chains vibes. Add in the pummeling drums and frantic guitar, and you've got one haunting background. Moz sounded pissed off here, and I loved it. This track may not be one of his best-known, but it buttered my bread. Thanks f...
Pink Floyd - Brain Damage/Eclipse | Reaction!

I haven't done a Pink Floyd reaction in a long while, so let's do a couple of tracks by them today. I know this video is almost 20 minutes, but there's a lot to digest here. It's a 6-minute psychedelic ride about insanity, who you are, and Syd Barrett. It wraps up one of the most important albums in music history. An album that I know a little bit better after this. Thanks for watching! linktr....
Boston - Amanda | Reaction! (Heartfelt!)
Переглядів 10014 днів тому
I was recently listening to Boston, and I realized that I've never done a reaction to them. This one is the opener from their long-awaited third album. It's a heartfelt, passionate song about telling a certain someone that you love them. It's Tom Scholz's baby, but Brad Delp's soaring voice really brings it to life. Thanks for watching! linktr.ee/insignificantnick
Keane - Bend & Break | Reaction! (I Just Love Them)
Переглядів 19714 днів тому
Every song I've listened to by Keane has been a bop. Tom Chaplin's vocals are always passionate and emotional, Tim Rice-Oxley's piano and bass skills are superb, and Richard Hughes holds things down. They create such relatable, catchy, and emotive tunes. The message here about being in a dark place but getting over it hits home. I love these guys. Thanks for watching! linktr.ee/insignificantnick
Morrissey - Love Is On Its Way Out | Reaction!
Переглядів 37121 день тому
Morrissey Friday? Morrissey Friday. This is another more recent track from his 2020 album. What an awful year that was. Anyway, as a pessimist, I really feel these haunting lyrics. You look at the headlines, you see war, you see people hating each other over religion, skin colour, gender identity, sex, nationality, etc. You also see people killing elephants and lions for sport. You start to thi...
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary | Reaction!

Unless you live under a rock, you've probably heard this song. Since it's been requested and I've never thought about it much, I wanted to have a serious listen to it. Ian Astbury's soaring vocals overtop of the anthemic sound from the rest of the band is just pure bliss. Plus, the lyrics are positive and endearing. Thanks for watching! linktr.ee/insignificantnick
Temple of the Dog - Call Me a Dog | Reaction!

Every time I hear Chris Cornell's voice, I'm reminded of how stunning it was. In an album full of moving songs, this one also hits you in the feels. Unless I'm missing something, the lyrics seem to be about a toxic relationship. The guy doesn't seem to have any confidence or respect for himself. Also, I didn't realize that Cornell's death anniversary had just passed. It's wild that he's been go...

Moz definitely has a misogynistic streak........which is odd, considering all the feminist literature he read as a teen. Regardless.......fairly average album track.

Now that you've finally gotten back to Tom Waits, how about getting back to The Replacements? One way would be to listen to Tom Waits and The Replacements collaborating on the song, Date to Church. Other than that, there's a world of Replacements songs waiting for you... you had previously reacted to Unsatisfied and Can't Hardly Wait. Here are some suggestions: Little Mascara (from the Tim album) Valentine (from the Pleased to Meet Me album) Waitress in the Sky (from the Tim album) Answering Machine (from the Let it Be album) I'll Be You (the version from Don't Tell a Soul, not the Dead Man's Pop version) Merry Go Round (from the All Shook Down album) I Will Dare (from the Let it Be album) Kiss Me on the Bus (from the Tim album) Never Mind (from the Pleased to Meet Me album) Within Your Reach (from the Hootenanny album) Swingin' Party (from the Tim album) Alex Chilton (from the Pleased to Meet Me album) Talent Show (the version from Dead Man's Pop, not the Don't Tell a Soul version) Skyway (from the Pleased to Meet Me album) I hope you will react to The Replacements again soon! ***Update: I just now caught your reaction to Badtards of Young - great job! And gjad you're considering Androgynous, too - forgot to list it above.

Love Kirsty! Loads of Smiths/Morrissey links, with her appearing on records by both, plus shared musicians and producers. Would recommend checking out 'Can't Stop Killing You' (co-written with Johnny Marr), or 'You Know It's You' (co-written with Mark Nevin from Moz's 'Kill Uncle' period, which she also apparently tried to persuade Morrissey to cover), as a start, but there are loads of great songs.
